Port of Belize Meets with Chamber of Commerce to Strengthen Services

Belize City, August 25th, 2025 – Ambassador Lynn Young, Chairman of the Board of the Port of Belize, and Mr. Kevin Castillo, Chairman of the Operations Committee, met with the Board of Directors of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry to discuss port operations and exchange ideas on improving services in both the short and long term.

Although unable to attend due to travel, Port of Belize CEO Mr. Arturo Vasquez welcomed the dialogue, noting that recent service disruptions were linked to efforts to collect overdue accounts exceeding one million dollars. He assured the public that the immediate issue has since been resolved.

“The Chamber welcomes this dialogue with the Port of Belize leadership,” said Mr. Giacomo Sanchez, President of the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry. “Efficient and reliable port services are essential for the competitiveness of Belizean businesses, and we look forward to continued collaboration to address challenges and create opportunities that benefit the wider economy.”

Ambassador Young highlighted the Port’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the business community, while Mr. Castillo emphasized ongoing work to improve efficiency and customer service. Both sides agreed to continue engagement to ensure the Port of Belize meets the evolving needs of importers, exporters, and the national economy.
