The Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), with a history spanning more than a century, is now entering a new chapter. We want to express our sincere gratitude to Katherine Meighan for her dedicated service and leadership during her tenure as the Executive Council (EC) President of the Chamber. Ms. Meighan has been a member of the board for the past eight years, and has been instrumental in advancing the Chamber’s goals, most notably through the launch and advocacy of the Business Policy Road Map and the development of our current five-year strategic plan. Under her leadership as President, guided by the Chamber’s Triple C’s philosophy, she also sought to increase collaboration with the Government of Belize, the Joint Social Partners, and other key stakeholders. Her efforts have significantly contributed to strengthening the Chamber’s position in the business community. We wish her all the best in her future endeavors abroad.
As we thank Ms. Meighan for her exceptional contributions, we are pleased to announce that Giacomo Sanchez will assume the role of President, effective August 1, 2025. In accordance with Articles I.14 and V.32 of the Chamber’s Constitution, the EC has unanimously agreed to appoint Mr. Sanchez to serve the remainder of the current presidential term. Mr. Sanchez will serve on an interim basis to complete the current EC cycle, with elections scheduled for April 2026.
Mr. Sanchez is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with more than 35 years of experience in audit and consulting across various industries—including banking and finance, education, government, agriculture, and tourism. He has also served as a Councilor and EC treasurer since 2015, bringing extensive expertise and a commitment to further strengthening the Chamber’s financial stability and member engagement.
As we welcome President Sanchez, we are confident that he will continue to build on the Chamber’s progress and lead us toward a successful future. We ask for your support in welcoming him to this new role and in working together to achieve our shared goals for Belize’s business community.
Regards,
Marcello Blake
