The Government of Belize, in 2017, through the Directorate General for Foreign Trade (DGFT) embarked on creating a coherent and effective trade policy guided by the National Trade Policy Framework (2016) to stimulate and grow Belize’s trade domestically and internationally. This Policy is built upon four pillars envisioned to stimulate and expand Belize’s trade. These pillars are: institutional strengthening, supply capacity, market access and trade facilitation. The Policy contextualizes entrepreneurship, higher living standards, efficient productive practices, trade inclusiveness and ways to improve trade relations with Latin America, the Caribbean and the ACP.
