The "Help Haiti Relief" telethon raises $22,020

Monday night, January 25th, the Belize Chamber of Commerce & Industry started their "Help Haiti Relief" initiative on the Business Perspective television show in the form of a telethon with guests: Mrs. Lily Bowman, Director General of the Belize Red Cross, Rev. Roosvelt Papouloute, Mrs. Amparo Masson, President of the BCCI Executive Council, and Mrs. Vanessa Peyrefitte, BCCI Marketing and Public Relations Manager. BCCI personnel were also on hand to take pledges.

Being moved to give, several people called in with their pledges throughout the duration of the show, culminating with $22,020 being raised.

This telethon is just the beginning of a five week fund raising effort to raise funds for Haiti. Anyone wishing to make a donation between today, Tuesday, January 26th, 2010 and Thursday, February 26th, 2010 can do so at any of our Western Union Sub-Agent locations throughout the country in the name of the Belize Chamber of Commerce & Industry. After the fund raising period is closed the funds will be pooled together and matched by the Western Union Foundation, and a cheque will be presented to the Belize Red Cross.
