Workshop: "International Trade Agreements: How can they work for us?"

Envisioning our goals to Connect, Capacitate, and Champion, the Belize Chamber of Commerce and Industry is once again offering a great opportunity to sign up for a very informative workshop entitled “ International Trade Agreements: How can they work for us?”,  which will be held on September 28, 2010. Through this workshop participants will be provided with a general overview of trade agreements governing trade multilaterally and regionally and will develop an appreciation of the purposes they serve to promote a fair and transparent business ecosystem. Moreover, the workshop will be enhanced with real examples of how multilateral trade rules can work for business activities, commerce and trade as they serve to bring transparency, principles of non-discrimination and fair competition through compliance by Member States of the World Trade Organization.

The workshop will be facilitated by Mrs. Venetia Eck-Salazar, Economist and BCCI’s own in-house Chief Policy Analyst. Mrs. Eck-Salazar has experience in negotiating the Free Trade Area of the Americas, as technical advisor to the negotiating group on Investments and Land Transportation in the Belize-Guatemala Partial Scope Agreement and lead negotiator for market access for the Economic Partnership Agreement between CARIFORUM and the European Union.

The workshop will be subdivided into six sessions that are equivalent to a one day workshop.  Members enjoy a discounted price of BZ$150.00, and the non-membership price is BZ $250.00, which is still very affordable for those who are interested.
